introduce webe kälm effectively
first: what is and isn't webe kälm
- webe kälm is a tool that teaches kids how to kälm. You didn't learn to check both ways before crossing the street the first time. It will be the same with activating your bodies natural pathways to calm. 🙌
- webe kälm is NOT a pacifier. 🚫 Jamming it into your kids mouth expecting magic likely won't work. Coach children to slowly inhale through the nose first.
- Wear your bracelets as a reminder to you and a child that you are in this together!
Each child will learn differently. Below are a number of ways to introduce webe kälm to your child. Find the pain point you identify with 👇

bedtime is such a struggle
If your child is running around before bedtime and is having a hard time slowing down, try this tactic:
Pull out the box and tell them something came in the mail for them. They will likely come and see what it is. Then explain that, "It helps parents understand children better when they are worked up. Could we try it?” From that moment on you can explain that you want to understand them better and first ask them to use the webe.

big emotions leading to major meltdowns
Sit down next to them and start with some empathy, “I see you are so upset right now. When I get really upset I like to play a game. (pull out the webe kälm) The game is to breathe into this webe and watch the ball go up as I blow out. I like to try and keep it up for the count of (your child’s age). Do you want to give it a try?”
child is overstimulated and irritable, fussy, tired, crying, restless, etc
- Sit down next to them and say, “It seems like everything is feeling really big and too much right now. When that happens for me I try my breathing buddy (pull out webe). This helps me feel more peaceful when things get too loud and busy. Let’s find a quiet spot and maybe you can try it?”

anxiety
When your child seems anxious or overwhelmed, try this: “I noticed that sometimes anxiety can make things really rough for you and I would love to help. I found this really cool breathing tool that can help us feel better and ease the anxiety. (show them webe)
Would you be willing to try it with me?”
changing hormones
Teens and teens deal with changing hormones that can greatly impact their mood. When they are in the throes of it, try this: “I know that as you are growing up, your body is going through a lot of changes, and sometimes it can affect how you feel. In those times it might be helpful to slow down and find your calm. I have this new cool tool that can help you do that in a fun way. (show them webe)
Could you try it with me?”

too cool for school to use webe kälm
We understand, it's a new concept. Some teens may initially resist. Instead of imposing it, consider expressing your intention to purchase one and involving them in the decision by asking about their preferred color. When faced with an argument, take a leadership role by referencing the webe: "Remember the webe we got? Before we discuss this, let's ensure we're both ready. Would you be open to trying it together?" If they claim to be calm, there is no need to argue, webe kälm will indicate to you both if they are, or aren't. No need to escalate the argument by making generic claims that can now be substantiated.
breaking up is so hard
A broken heart can feel devastating for anyone, especially a teen. If your teen has just experienced a break-up, try this:
“I know this breakup has been really hard on you, and there may be a lot of emotions coming up for you right now. I’ve heard that when this happens, focusing on breathing can be soothing and offer a little relief. webe kälm could be a way to help you take a moment for yourself when things feel overwhelming. If you are open to it, we could try it together. What do you think?”
